The dead are among us - Chapter 4 - Saviour

It's now the twenty seventh of June, the day after Beth was bitten on the leg and she is in a bad state. Josh walks into her room to find her almost fully red, sweating and shaking. He puts his hand on her forehead and says "Oh my god. You're burning up. That's not normal, we need to get a doctor." Josh shouts downstairs and everyone runs up to Beth's bedroom. Geoff says "OH NO, I've got to take you to a doctor." He tries to pick her up but Beth screams in pain. "You're going to have to bring a doctor here to help her. Why don't we get that guy next door to Audrey's house. He was a doctor wasn't he?" Says Ruth. "I'll come with you, let's go." Ruth and Geoff run out the house and get into their car.

Geoff and Ruth get into the car and start speeding out the cul-de-sac straight to Audrey's home. As they're driving down the main road there they notice how it's so much quieter than usual. There are a few cars that have been left on the road so they have to be careful to bypass them safely. There are still a few people walking on the streets but nowhere near the amount there usually is. They also see quite a few infected people either walking or running, some in the middle of the road.

They pull up at Audreys home and go to the house next door. This was the house that belonged to Austin the doctor. They knock on the door and within around 5 seconds they hear something smack into the door. They hear a growling and scratching noise as if someone's trying to break through. Geoff says "Hey austin, that you in there?". They tap on the window only to see Austin smash through it, however he looks like he's turned into one of the infected. He's now right infront of them. Ruth runs to the car as she's scared and Geoff follows. Ruth goes around and gets in the passenger side door but when Geoff tries to open the driver's side door he is attacked by Austin. Austin tries to bite Geoff but he pushes him to the ground. He then jumps in the car, shuts the door and drives away as quickly as possible. "WHAT THE FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT. HE TRIED TO KILL US" screams Ruth. "Yeah he must have turned. If you die you turn into one of them. Josh and Brad saw it happen in town. Okay. We need to find someone or something. Why don't we try and find a pharmacy or something? I think there's one a few minutes away."

They arrive at the pharmacy and no one's there. The glass front door has been completely smashed open and a lot of the stock on the shelves looks like it's been ransacked. There are quite a few things left though. They enter the pharmacy and pick up some paracetamol, bandages and other useful medical supplies from the shelves and the floor. Luckily there is no infected people around but two men walk past. They enter the store but instantly say they don't want any trouble. "Hey guys. Don't mind us. This shit is outta control and our mum is ill. We need to get some stuff." Geoff and Ruth don't take much notice and run out of the store to head back home. 

Just after Geoff and Ruth left the house to find Austin the group decide to check the radio to see if anyone is broadcasting anything. They hear an emergency broadcast that says the power supply and more are going to be cut from tonight onwords. They have tried to hold out but everyone is running from work to there families. They also state that the army are setting up army camps that are taking in civilians. They are emergency shelters that people can flock to if they are scared. They also say that the outbreak has been monumental, already infecting around 10-15% of the the English population. "Shit that ain't good. We need to tell Geoff and Ruth when they get back. Maybe that army camp ain't a bad idea." Says Colton. 

Josh asks uncle Dean if he can come with him to get his car. Uncle Dean is nearly in his sixties with grey hair and a grey moustache. Josh says that he had left his car a few days ago in the whole town incident and needed someone to drive him there so he can retrieve it. They leave to go get it and arrive there without any issues. Just as Josh is about to get into his car he hears a noise coming from his phone. It's Kate trying to ring him. He answers and puts the phone to his ear. "Josh is that you?". "Yes, are you okay?" "No. I need help. I'm trapped at home. Those things are in my house. They've already killed my mum and I don't know who to call. Me and my brother are trapped in my bedroom with about 3 of them outside the door banging." "Oh god, where's your house? I'll be straight there." "It's 17 Cloverfield road, hurry!" The phone call ends and Josh is shook. He tells unlce Dean and they both get into there cars and race there. 

They pull up on the front drive and see the front door wide open. Uncle Dean gets out the car and says to Josh "stay behind me." He pulls out a double barrel shotgun and aims it at the front door. "I thought Geoff said you couldn't bring it" says Josh. "Do you think I've ever listened to that man." Says Uncle Dean in a joking matter. He shouts "who's in there." 3 infected come running out. Dean shoots the first one in the chest, knocking it to the ground. He shoots the second one in the head and it kills it, exploding it's head into bits. The first infected gets back up and they both run for them. Josh kick one down and and the other one tries to attack Uncle Dean. It gets ontop of him and is trying to bite him. Suddenly the infected person ontop of uncle deans head explodes as Kate runs out and hits it with a baseball bat. An older guy around 25 years old with short dark hair and who is slightly overweight also runs out the house and stamps on the infected persons head that Josh kicked down. This explodes it's head. 

Kate is relieved and give Josh a massive hug. She has a tear in her eye and looks really sad. "Thankyou so much. We were in so much trouble there. This is my older brother called luke by the way. And that infected you shot in the head. That was my mum." She bursts out crying so they all console her. Luke also looks destraught but manages to keep it together. Kate asks if her and Luke can come back with Josh and Dean as they don't feel safe by themselves. They try to call Geoff to ask but there is no phone service. This is because the phone lines have now gone down. They decide it will be okay and load the 2 cars with all of their stuff including clothes, bedding and food. 

Meanwhile back at the house Brad, Audrey, Colton and Wendy are all upstairs in Brad's room. Brad is trying to see if he can tune the radio to find anymore stations to see if there are anymore updates. What they don't realise is that in the other room Beths wound has caused her heart to stop. Her eyes shut and she's motionless. Her eyes open again a minute later however because she has turned into one of the infected.
