The dead are among us - Chapter 13 - Reunited

Josh is walking on the streets of Kidderminster at a fast pace, with his destination of travel unknown. He has his right hand clenched around his bloody woodcutters axe that is dripping onto the floor. Behind him, the lifeless body of a man that had turned. He has a big gauging wound on the side of his head, matching that of the size and shape of the sharp tip of Josh's axe. He thinks to himself "Where the heck do I even go now? I'm alone. I've got enough food to last me a couple of days at most before I have to get more." As he is walking he is looking at the surrounding, scanning all the places where the undead could be hiding. He notices a few houses that he walks past have people in but doesn't feel the need to approach. He thinks "I wonder where all the others have gone. The only place we'd discussed going was Deans house in Scotland and the Army camp in Wolverhampton. I don't even 100% know where either of them are but it's worth a go trying to find them." As Josh is walking he decides that if he is going to try and find the others he is going to need supplies to do so. He knows that he is only a 15-20 minute walk from the big Tesco store so decides to head there.

Around 15 minutes goes by and Josh sees the entrance to the Tesco store. It is still in a poor condition, like the last time they came. Josh has to get through a few singular infected to get to the front of the store but does it with little issue. He notices that there is a couple of cars in the car park so decides to be careful as people could be inside looting and gathering supplies. He enters the store and decides to go towards the DIY section. He is hoping to find some sort of a clear hose that he can use to syphon some fuel from cars. Josh had previously watched a YouTube video on this before the apocalypse so understands the process of how it works. He manages to find one that would work and uses a knife that he has to cut it to an ideal length. He then decides that it would be useful to get some more food so heads to the canned food isle. There is literally no tins of food left on the whole isle. Josh has a disappointed look on his face.

"Holy shit! You're alive." Says a voice from behind him. Josh looks behind him to see his Uncle Dean. Josh runs to him and gives him a big hug. "Oh my god, I can't believe you made it. Where's Lewis. I saw you 2 run down the alley together?" says Josh. Dean replies "He's alive. He's been shot though. Chris and his mates save us. You remember him right, and what happened to Luke. Where is he?" "Yeah I remember him. And Luke, well, we were trapped, and they got him. I tried to save him but there was so many of them." Replies Josh in a sad manor. Chris says "This is Valor, he helped me save Lewis." Josh shakes his hand and gives him a nod. Josh decides to go back with Dean, Chris and Valor to see Lewis.

They arrive back at the house and open the door. Poppy is at the top of the stairs and is looking down to check who's coming in and says "Ah it's you guys. Have you got the painkillers I asked for. Lewis is up but is in a lot of pain." Valor says "Yeah we got them. Got a few other useful bits and bobs aswell!" Poppy sees Josh and asks "Who's that?" "This is my nephew, He was in my group when we got separated. We ran into him at Tesco's."

Poppy is looking over Lewis and gives him the painkillers. She explains to the group that he needs to rest for at least a few days. She suggests that they should stay put in the house. Lewis tries to get up but nearly screams in pain. "No, no, no, don't do that, jut rest up." says Poppy. "If you need anything shout us. No one is going to be too far away don't worry."

Dean, Josh, Valor, Chris and Jade are downstairs and are discussing what to do. Josh says "I think we need to go to your house Dean. That's surely the only place that Mum, Dad and Brad are going to think to go." Dean replies "Yeah good idea. Thing is. Lewis isn't going to be able to travel for a day or 2. Surely if they make it there, they'll still be there for a while."

Valor is near the window and sees a woman hobbling down the road with a young child. Valor says "Guys, look. She looks in trouble, and she's only got a small kid with her. We've got to help." Chris opens the front door and shouts to the Lady "Hey, do you need any help?" She turns to look at him and looks almost lifeless. Her facial expressions looks like a mix of her being in pain and her giving up on everything. She walks over and says "Can you help us. We're desperate. I'm just trying to keep my little daughter safe." Poppy comes down and sees the woman. "Hey, I'm a nurse, do you need any medical attention." "Yeah I could. I'm in a lot of pain." 

Poppy takes the woman and daughter into one of the bedrooms upstairs and lies her down. "What's the problem?" says Poppy. "I need to know something. What is this group like?" says the woman quietly in a pain filled voice. "Yeah, they all seem really good. Why?" replies Poppy. The woman lifts up her trouser leg to show a bite and says "Take care of my daughter please. I haven't got long left and don't have many options. Just please keep her safe." Poppy is in shock and almost sheds a tear. She goes down to inform the group and leaves the young girl there to say her goodbyes. The daughter is only 7 years old so isn't fully understanding what is happening. She is a very small girl for her age and has her blonde hair in a long ponytail. She seems really upset as she hugs her mum goodbye for the last time. 

As Poppy is telling the group the situation they hear a scream from upstairs. "AHHH!!! HELP!!! HELP!!!" cries the young girl. Valor is closest to the stairs so grabs his hammer and leads the charge upstairs.
