The dead are among us - Chapter 3 - Regroup

It's now just gone two pm and Geoff has just finished his shift in the office and is getting into his car to drive home. He puts on his heavy metal music playlist and sets off from the office car park heading home. Usually it takes around thirty minutes to drive home and he always takes one of two routes. If it looks like it's going to be busy he goes down the bypass that's slightly away from the town, however if there's not much traffic he tends to head through town as it's a shorter distance so he uses less fuel. As it looks busy he decides to take the bypass meaning that he will miss all the drama that's unfolded in the town. He does however see a few army personnel on the outskirts of town almost as if they were patroling for some reason. 

A small amount of time later he pulls up on the drive of the family home that's located at the end of a cul-de-sac. He gets out the car and walks through the front door getting greeted by the whole family swarming him trying to bombard him with information. He shouts to stop as it was too hectic. The shout scares the family cat and it darts upstairs. It's a black and white cat that's one and a half years old called Tiddles. Geoff gets everyone to sit in the living room and explain one by one what's happening. They decide that they should just stay at home for the rest of the day to be on the safe side.

Next day arrises and they go about there day as usual as there doesn't seem to be a load of news on it as it's reported that the army has dealt with the situations that have arose. They news have reported that groups of people have been attacking people viscously around the country but it's all being dealt with by police and army personnel. 

It's around midday now and Josh, Beth and Brad are all sitting in the garden. Beth is scrolling on her smart phone and see's a post online that the prime minister will be doing an emergency press conference tonight at eight pm. She says "You won't believe this, the Prime Minister is doing an emergency press conference tonight. I can't believe people are actually taking this thing seriously." "It is serious, me and Josh literally witnessed it yesterday. I can't believe you still don't think it's real." Says Brad. Josh says "Well let's just make sure that our family is okay, maybe we should ring Uncle Dean. I mean he is a games keeper isn't he? I know he has a guns licence and owns a shotgun. Maybe if things get too out of hand it might come in useful." Brad agrees however Beth shuts it down quickly. Josh says to Brad "Did you see the people yesterday. They weren't human. Like one of them literally got mauled Infront of us and rose up from the dead. They also looked so weird." "Maybe it's some desease that transforms you into something different. Like some sort of vampire." Beth's facial expressions show that she is starting to get a bit concerned by the fact that this is still going on and starts wondering if it might be true. 

Hours have now passed and the family is gathered around the television about to watch the emergency press conference that will be aired on all channels. They notice how the prime minister is gripping his arm and sweating. They are shocked by the fact that everything is closing and are slightly panicked as they don't have loads of food and supplies in the house so will have to venture to the nearby supermarket soon to get some. Suddenly the prime minister runs off stage and is shortly followed by two guards. The cameras haven't cut as there is a lot of panic happening. A minute later they hear screams followed by gunshots, then all of a sudden the cameras cut. 

Geoff says "That sounded terrible. What happened? I think we need to call my mum aswel as Ruth's mum and dad and make sure they're okay. Maybe we should invite them all to stay over untill this has all blown over. Josh and Brad you could sleep on the sofa can't you? They could have your room?" "Yeah of course, that would be fine. Why don't we get uncle Dean aswell as I'd feel so much safer if he was here with his gun." Says Josh. Geoff replies by saying "He can't just being his gun around everywhere. I don't mind him coming if he wants to but I don't want him bringing his gun." 

Ruth and Geoff all ring there parents aswell as uncle Dean and they all agree to come over. Geoff's mum however is very old and can't drive so Ruth and Beth decide they will go tomorrow to pick her up. 

It's now the next day and Geoff and Beth exit there front door and head towards there car. Geoff's mum lives a few miles away so doesn't take that long to get there and is usually quite a quiet area.

10 minutes pass and they get to Geoff's mum's house. They knock on the door and wait. No reply. They knock again and wait a few more seconds. Still no reply. They are beggining to get worried as she said that she was going to stay in the house that day and wait for them. They are just about to knock again when they hear her voice. They also hear a key turning in the door, the door opens and a small old lady, around 80 years old with short grey hair and glasses peeks round the door. This is Geoff's mum who is called Audrey. "Oh Geoffrey, I'm do relieved to see you. And aww Bethany my love, how have you been? And who is that you've bought with you?" Geoff and Beth turn around to see a woman running right up to them. As it approaches Geoff kicks them and they fall to the ground right next to Beth. Whilst on the ground she bites into Beth's leg. Beth's screams in agony. Geoff see's this and panics. He stomps on their head however it doesn't stop her. He repeats this action five times before the head eventually cracks into two and kills the woman.

Geoff says "OH MY GOD. WHAT DO I DO. I CAN'T EXACTLY TAKE HER TO A HOSPITAL. WE HEARD THEY WERE THE WORST PLACE TO BE"

After this loud racket they hear a voice from next door. "Hey, I'm a doctor. Let me have a look." A man walks out of the front door nextdoor and approaches them. "Oh that's Austin, he's such a sweetie" says Audrey. Austin is a slim man with a dark goatee in his mid thirties. He brings out some bandages and cleans the wound the best he can. You're probably going to need stitches for that soon however I don't have the equipment. Apparently the hospital has just been overrun by those things. 

Back at the house Josh hears a bang at the front door. They are a bit hesitant to open it but do and an old couple are stood in the doorway. "Ahh Nan and grandad. Good to see you. How have you been?" There names are Wendy and Colton. Colton is quite a big man however had a walking stick because he has a bad knee. Wendy is also quite feeble as she's an old lady. They also see there Uncle Dean pull up on the side of there road. They all look relieved that they are together and feel safer having more bodies around.

Around 25 minutes later Geoff, Beth and Audrey arrive back home. Beth is hopping whilst holding onto Geoff. Ruth opens the door and asks "what's happened? Is she okay?" "She was bit by one of those things. It's okay though. She's been patched up by a doctor." Explains Geoff. "He said to see how it heals but it might need stitches." Beth goes upstairs to her room to rest and they all unpack all there belongings where they're going to sleep. Brad, Josh and uncle Dean are staying downstairs whereas the others are taking up the 4 upstairs bedrooms.
